The basic Pordata data, created five years ago, has had more than 25 million views within and outside Portugal, being consulted by students, teachers, researchers, politicians and businessmen, seeking information on employment, population and accounts.

Picture was made by the coordinator of the online database, Maria João Valente Rosa, on the day that the Pordata, an initiative of the Foundation Francisco Manuel dos Santos, says it will unveil new projects on the occasion of its fifth anniversary.

In five years, Pordata managed to gather a number of statistics, more than fifty official bodies, on the municipalities, Portugal and Europe.

Maria João Valente Rosa said that despite the range of information sought to be different, the themes are displayed, in particular, population, employment and the labor market, education and national accounts.

Students, teachers, researchers, politicians, businessmen, but also journalists, on the list of entrants to Pordata.

The accesses are made from Portugal, but also from other countries such as UK, Brazil, France, Spain and the United States.

“The Pordata has grown in five years,” argued Maria João Valente Rosa, stressing that the database “addresses the need for credible information” and makes “the closest statistics citizens”, making it available -Las in a “simple, fast and free”.

New themes and indicators, such as tourism in the municipal database, will be introduced, promises the coordinator of Pordata, without disclosing terms.

The Pordata was honored in 2011 with the World Summit Award prize, awarded by the UN to more innovative applications in the promotion of the knowledge society.
