In loose and final vote, city council banned the use of Uber app , sort of independent transportation that has generated the wrath of taxi drivers in the world, on Wednesday (9), in São Paulo City Hall. Now, the text goes to sanction the mayor Fernando Haddad.

The approved bill was 258/2015, filed in June by Councillor Adilson Amadeu, a former taxi driver. It prohibits throughout the state capital applications that provide transportation remunerated.

There were a total of 43 votes in favor, three against and five abstentions. At the end of the vote, for several moments the chairman had to interrupt his speech with the count, as taxi drivers present in the plenary celebrated with shouts and songs.

Protest and squabble
Before the speeches of the councilors about the project, about five thousand taxi drivers blocked several roads in the capital city with honking and fireworks , drawing the attention of the population to vote. The traffic was complicated in various parts of the city.

The speeches in the plenary were also nervous against the service. Adilson Amadeu (PTB) took a refrigerator model, it took a taxi signalman and placed inside a miniature black car, representing the Uber.

“It’s no use to regulate illegal. The Uber owners are offenders, are practicing tax evasion. collect the money here, send to the US and do not pay anything for the city,” he charged, who even stopped his speech to offend Professional Application fans. “Shut up up there. Get away from the van, naughty, rude. You are outlaw! Get back in the refrigerator!”

From the same party, Councilman Conte Lopes defended by the taxi drivers “really serve the people” and praised the ban on Uber. “They [taxi drivers] die even in assault, which will never happen with the Uber because the application professionals do not stop on the street to pick up passengers other than the driver.”
