Setting of the sun on Mars can be as beautiful as on Earth – TVI24

The full Curiosity robot on 6 August the third anniversary in Martian soil and the middle of April captured in high definition the going down of the sun on Mars. To many people the going down of the sun is a special time, and each has its own local preferences to see the star fade into the horizon, so imagine how special it can be to see the putting of -sun as if the “Red Planet”.

According to the British newspaper “The Independent”, a s images were obtained on 15 April, the 956º day on Mars Curiosity, and were captured by Mastcam sensor fitted to the robot Space Agency North -American (NASA).

The images were recorded from the Gale crater where the robot is parked in a sequence that gives the illusion of animation. The four images that make up the small animation are distant about six minutes of each other.

The sun bluish aspect is directly linked to thinner layer of atmosphere that exists on Mars, but also because there are dust storms on the planet. The powder in the Mars surface is composed of fine particles that filter out most of the light, but let through the blue light than other colors with other wavelengths. The effect is more pronounced at the time of the going down of the sun when light falls more obliquely, walking a long way.

But this is not the first time that NASA researchers reveal how Sunset on Mars. In 2010, at the time with the help of robot Opportunity, had been revealed a video showing the event:
