Playstation 4: Sony announces version with 1 terabyte of storage – Globo.com

The Sony presented on Monday (22) a version of PlayStation 4 with 1 TB of storage capacity (terabyte), called Ultimate Playstation 4 Player Edition. The company also claims that the model is 10% lighter and consumes 8% less electricity.

The new edition offers twice the space that the latest version and should be launched by the end of June in Japan, on the 15th in Europe and by the end of July in North America. The company did not disclose the price of the new model

No release date in Brazil or if the device will also be manufactured in Brazil, as announced at E3 2015.

The ad Sony follows the example of Microsoft, which also revealed model of Xbox One 1 terabyte on Aug. 9.

Sony also said recently it has no plans to enter the PS4 backwards compatibility with games of last generation. Microsoft recently announced that the Xbox One will be able to run some games Xbox 360.

The global president of Sony Computer Entertainment, Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer that was caught by surprise by rival ad, and that the company is not developing something like that.

“I did not think was possible,” he said incredulously. “There must have been a great deal of engineering.” He said the company would focus its new endeavors.
