Man survives five hours buried in a pit – TVI24

A man who was buried for about five hours in a pit in São João de Ver, Santa Maria da Feira, was removed by firefighters with minor injuries, told Lusa source of the fire.

The accident occurred about 18:00, when the man, 26, was cleaning a well, with about five meters deep, in a private home.



“There were landslides and a man fell and was buried, but was very lucky because of the waist was inside the mine and therefore was protected “he told Lusa the commander of the Fair Firefighters, Manuel Neto.

According to the same official, the victim had some slight leg injuries and complained of back pain and waist pelvic and was transported to the Hospital of San Sebastian in Santa Maria da Feira.

The collapse of the causes are still unknown.

The rescue operation ended around 23:30 and was “very complex”, according to firefighters.



“We had some trouble to proceed to the rescue, but fortunately everything went well,” he said the commander Manuel Neto.

In place were the Fire Department Santa Maria da Feira, with 15 men, supported by four cars.
