There is one more incentive for a captivating writing. From July 1, Amazon will pay authors of some electronic books based on the number of pages that readers read.


                     


                         The new mode of remuneration with regard to electronic books on Kindle Unlimited service, where users can buy the books they want with a signing ten dollars monthly, and also in the loan service that is part of the perks of clients Amazon Prime. You can read books in Kindle readers for a limited period of time, without having to buy them. The two subscription services are not available in Portugal.

The company says the move is in line with the requests of the authors, who asked that “payment was aligned with the extending of the books and the customers read. ” So far, the compensation was made based on the number of purchased copies, whether they be read or not.

Amazon’s devices and applications already identify the page where the user is. This technology allows, for example, read a mobile phone and resume the Kindle reading at the point you left it. However, for new payment method, Amazon had to develop a page count system that works for all books, regardless of factors such as the font size and line spacing that each user is using.

The amount payable is calculated based on the funds available to pay the authors (depending on the number of clients) and the percentage of pages of each author compared to total pages read by all readers each month.
