Thousands of Americans are inspired by the social networking filters to dub their babies
According to a list of popular names, disclosed by a maternity center, names like Lux, Ludwig and Valencia have registered an increase in the last two years.
Although names like Sophia and Jackson remain on top of the ranking , the list published by BabyCenter revealed some choices of peculiar names, by the US parent. Many are using the Instagram filters as inspiration, although there is still no register of names like Lo-Fi or Hefe.
“We took the precious moments of our lives and a filter makes them even more beautiful. I think people have good feelings associated with them, and these names come to them in consciousness. There are looking for something unique, but it has never been heard. No one is calling to babies ‘X-Pro II’, “said Linda Murray, BabyCenter, told the Today Show.
According to the Daily Mail the Lux name, boy, grew 75% since 2014. Also popular for boys are the Ludwig name, which registered a 45% higher utilization, and Amaro Reyes, who both recorded growth of 26%, and Hudson and Kelvin , 3%.
As for the girls, the Valencia name, which is also one of the most popular filters in Instagram, increased by 26%. 30% more babies were called Juno and 13% Willow.
Apart from the names inspired by the social network, the Americans are also opt to choose names of some characters from hit movies. The popularity of Hermione name, the famous witch of “Harry Potter” grew by 45%, and Hazel, the protagonist of “Blame It Star”, more than 50%.
names with spatial references also made the list, as Jupiter, Venus or Sunny.
