Xiaomi strengthen patents before entering the US – EXAME.com

Beijing – The smarpthones Chinese manufacturer of rapid growth Xiaomi is strengthening its patents, before entering the US market, said on Thursday Bloomberg Television the head of international operations, Hugo Barra, without giving a timetable.

The company has faced intellectual property obstacles in India, where a by Ericsson patent infringement complaint briefly halted sales of its appliances at the end of 2014.

Executives Xiaomi recognized that the little five-year startup’s portfolio is a major weakness, and the company has avoided getting into markets with strong enforcement of intellectual property laws.

Former Google executive, Barra said the phones Xiaomi should not take much more than a year to reach the United States.

Barra said the maker of smartphones Note and Mi Mi Note Pro will continue to develop its portfolio of 2000 patents, which is tiny compared to the intellectual property portfolios held by major international companies, and that Xiaomi will “talk thoroughly with all” to set licensing agreements.
