eBay will lay off 2,400 employees – TeK.sapo

Employees that the company intends to dismiss represent 7% of the world giant of the labor force of e-commerce, specializing in online auctions. The measure reflects the slowdown in the company’s growth, a trend that financial results for the last quarter, also released on Wednesday at the end of the day, reconfirmed.

With the same purpose of adjusting the structure to a level now weaker activity, the company also plans to sell a business unit and refocus the operation in the most profitable areas. The PayPal spin-off also remains on the agenda and will take place towards the end of the year.

The business unit that the group considers sold or put on the stock exchange (through an IPO) is the Enterprise eBay, one of the three areas in which the company was divided in the last process of reorganization and that should now be sold by the few possible synergies with other divisions.

The last quarter results presented Wednesday by eBay reveal a revenue growth of around 9% to 4920 million, the lowest since 2010. For the first three months of 2015, eBay provides revenues between 4.3 and 4.4 billion dollars.
