If you play or know someone who plays Minecraft, stay tuned to this news: about 1800 user names and passwords were leaked on the Internet. According to German media reports, several of credentials are authentic and allow access to people’s accounts.

In addition to the discomfort to allow random people to use your account to surreptitiously, the disclosure of a list of addresses email directly linked to a password is a serious threat to cyber security. This is because many people repeat their passwords on various services, opening gaps for other more serious attacks.

For Mojang, now part of Microsoft, the leak of passwords is also a financial problem, because it allows any one download a free copy of the game on behalf of another user, which would normally cost 20 euros.

No one knows how the disclosure of this information happened. Invasions are possible, but the most likely is that these people have been victims of attacks keyloggers, malicious programs that monitor what the person types on the computer, or phishing, scam mode where the user is tricked in order to obtain the Password
