Application allows “give” the blind eyes – Destak

It’s called “Be My Eyes” (“Be my eyes”, in Portuguese) and is a mobile application that aims to make life easier for blind people.

Built in Denmark, this new “app” can turn blind users for volunteers to see and that can help them accomplish simple tasks like choosing between a can of beans or grain on supermarket shelves or confirm the expiration date of a milk carton.

The idea was developed by the Danish Hans Jorgen Wiberg, also on limitations to eye level and remembered the concept during an event for startups in 2012.

“Through a video call, this ‘app’ gives blind people the opportunity to ask a volunteer who sees to perform tasks that require normal vision,” says the official application site.

Through smartphones, volunteers use their eyes, “seeing and describing what the blind person is show them through the chamber. In this way, and working together, can easily solve the problem. “

For now, the application is only available for iOS, the operating system of Apple, making use of a tool -. VoiceOver – the iPhones that allows blind people to fully operate the equipment. However, it should be available soon for Android smartphones.

Those who wish to become volunteer (a) the application has only to download through the Apple App Store and join the community.

The founders also invite users that have availability to help the ‘startup’ to translate the application into other languages.
