Paper for Food campaign collects five thousand tons of paper - Público.pt

This result was achieved by converting food to five thousand tons of paper collected in a campaign developed in partnership by Food Banks and the Quima, company collection and recovery of waste. Since December 2011 each ton of paper received is converted into food.

The initiative involves the institutions that are supplied daily in food banks and volunteers who collaborate in the actions of the federation led by Isabel Jonet. The aim is to raise awareness of the possibility of recovering and reusing things that seem to have no value. “The success of this campaign is measured by its great capacity to show that a product that seems to have no value, and that will almost always to waste after use, can be converted into food,” said Jonet, in a statement sent to media.
