A supercomputer that functions like the human brain - TVI24

Building a supercomputer capable of replicating the functions of the human brain is the goal of a group of scientists and researchers who gathered on Monday in Switzerland, on Tuesday moved the portal Mashable.

The project that will cost about 1.6 billion dollars (1.2 billion euros) and will involve 135 institutions and government entities, wants to create the fastest computer known today, 1,000 times faster than the most powerful available now and that operate in the same way that our brain, helping also to better understand how to work our capacities for learning, thinking and emotions.

The first phase of the project, which will last about a decade or initially realize how work functions of our brain, hoping to thus replicate the ways we learn, think, see and hear.

currently the fastest computers are already capable of speeds of a thousand trillion operations per Second, a number that the director of the projector, Henry Markram, wants to overtake. It will be a machine that will require new forms of memory and that will force scientists to develop new forms of storage, says the same source.

According to website design the goal is “realize the rapid growth of knowledge of the human brain”, which can bring results that will surpass the technology itself, with simulations to draw a model of its functions and may help to realize, for example, as if the brain can heal.
