The GNR identified today 20 people on suspicion of olive theft crime in the districts of Beja and Moura and seized 2,650 kilograms of that fruit, said today Lusa source of security force agency.
The 15 suspects of a theft of 2500 kg of olive in Baleizão zone, Beja county – mostly men, aged between 14 and 38, and all foreigners – were intercetados and identified by GNR when followed in four Spanish registration of vehicles in the areas of Beja, Vidigueira and Évora.
The Guard seized the olive, which was delivered to the owner, has been drawn up an official report which will be sent to court .
Also in the district of Beja, in the Moura area, the source of the security force, the GNR identified five people, three men and two women, aged between 35 and 40 years, all Portuguese , which were seized about 150 kilograms of olives.
The fruit was delivered to the owner, who did not complain.
On Wednesday, the GNR said it arrested four people and identified five suspected of the same crime also in Moura municipality. 1071 kg valued at 407 euros and that were stolen were seized.
