Web Summit held in Lisbon the next three years
Paulo Portas said that there is the possibility of Lisbon become capital of the web economy and technology by 2020.
Lisbon will host the Web Summit, the most important meeting of startups in the world over the next three years, today announced the chief executive of the event, Paddy Cosgrave, and the deputy prime minister, Paulo Portas.
“Portugal as a country and as Lisbon city will be host to the biggest event startups and largest global gathering of technology in 2016, 2017 and 2018,” said Paulo Portas in Lisbon today.
The deputy prime minister said although there is the possibility of Lisbon is the capital of the web economy and technology for two more years, until 2020.
Referring to Lisbon as “a magical and vibrant city” and “comparable to Berlin levels,” Paddy Cosgrave said he was “very enthusiastic” about the coming to Lisbon this global technology conference, which since 2010 takes place in Dublin, stressing that the choice will allow the event to continue to grow in the future.
