When it comes to the Konami game, franchise names like Metal Gear, Castlevania or PES, immediately comes to mind. But the Japanese company has produced some gems over the years, especially in the age 16-bit.

Instead of talking only about the best known, how about a look at the “forgotten game” of Konami. And yes, it’s even released regret the cancellation of Silent Hills.

Contra and his shootings

Launched in 1987 to the arcades, but coming to the NES the following year, Contra was a landmark of the genre “run and gun” in which the player must move the scene, shooting at everything that appears ahead.

The success of the game has generated several sequences, with some titles that are worth mentioning, as against HARD Cops released for Mega Drive. With the new generation of consoles being released, Konami tried to topple new games on PlayStation and PS2, but has not had the same success.

In 2011, during E3, Konami released a teaser a new game of the series against. We are in 2015 and hope that something was actually released may have died some time ago.

Sunset Riders and the Old West

A classic era 16-bit, Sunset Riders followed a similar formula with the Counter (run to the right, shooting at whatever is ahead), but put four gunmen in an Old West setting.

Launched first at arcades, but with versions for the Mega Drive and Super Nintendo, it is impossible to meet someone who played video games back then and did not know who they were Steve, Billy, Bob and Cormano with him his pink poncho.

The children of Hideo Kojima

Despite being best known for being the creator of Metal Gear, Hideo Kojima released in other games from Konami, mixing RPG, giant robots in a space plot, police and futuristic plots.

In 1988, Kojima created Snatcher an adventure that drank in the sources of science fiction and cyberpunk. The game featured the player in control of an investigator trying to solve crimes committed by cyborgs, called snatchers, in a dystopian future.

Launched to PCs, the title won versions of the Saturn and PS1 and, today, is considered by many one of the best games of the genre.

After Snatcher, Kojima also directed Policenauts, game that seems more like an interactive graphic novel, which tells the story the astronauts who are also police officers, taking care of the first human city beyond Earth. The game received very high grades of critics at the time of its release, receiving numerous accolades relating to its history.

Years later, back in 2001, Kojima decided to face the genre fuses with Zone of the Enders for the PS2. The idea of Metal Gear creator was to show a more serious side to the stories with giant robots.

The game brought political intrigue, epic space battles and won a legion of fans around the world . In 2003, a sequel to the game was released for the PS2, this time only produced by Kojima.

Both games were released in a version in HD for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2012 . This has led to a hope that a sequel could be produced, but Konami did not play more in the project.

No control

In addition to these classics, Konami also released some games that used controls somewhat unusual for the time of its release. One of these games was Lethal Enforcers.

Launched first at arcades, but getting versions for home consoles, the game put the player in control of a pair of police officers (if you play with a friend) against a legion of thugs who tried to take over a city.

The difference is that for this, you used a gun connected to the video game. Called Konami Justifier, the light gun shooting at bandits allowed out of the TV screen. Although colorful, the gun design was used by the US government, even in the 90s, pointing to violence in video games.

In addition to Justifier, Konami also managed to topple a different kind of control. This time in a more friendly way to carry out the launch of the game Dance Dance Revolution, the company created a carpet so players could go out dancing at home without a huge arcade machine.

The game made a huge success at the time of the PS1, winning several sequences to the generation of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Allejo, the champion of the people

Although Konami continue with the Pro Evolution Soccer series, many remember with more affection of another company football franchise. International Superstar Soccer was launched in 1994 for the Super Nintendo and for many years was the most popular game of football between Brazilians, even earning the FIFA series, EA.

Something helped a lot in popularizing the game on Brazilian soil was amended, which put Brazilian teams in the center of all the action. Still, the standard edition of the game brought enough to make the joy of the players.

Even today, you can find players who have no idea who were the stars of the Brazilian national soccer team, but I know who wore the head hopscotch on ISS (double Gomez and Allejo myth still makes the happiness of all).
