China launches new rocket, the Long March 6 – State Press – LUSA

China has launched a new rocket model that will serve primarily to place satellites in orbit, announced the official press.

China aims millions of dollars to conquer space, something that is seen as a symbol of the new power of China.

The new rocket, called Long March 6, was launched from a base located in Shanxi province. The ship was carrying 20 “micro” satellites, Xinhua said, quoted by AFP.

According broadcast on CCTV television images, the Long March -6 is white and its upper end is decorated with a Chinese flag.

The rocket measures 29.3 meters in height and uses fuel composed of a mixture of liquid oxygen and non-polluting fuel, added the official Chinese press.

“micro” satellites will be used to conduct experiments in technology and new products, according to the CCTV, without providing further details.

The Chinese government declared in 2011 that the Long March 6 would be able to carry a ton and shipments could put in orbit up to 700 kilometers away.

The name of the program of the rocket “Long March” is inspired by the epic of Mao Zedong, founder of Communist China.

Among the most ambitious goals of Beijing include the sending of a probe to Mars by the year 2020, the realization of a permanent space station about two years later, and sending a man to the moon after 2025.
