US regulator is investigating Google for “choke” the competition by Android – SAPO Tek

The most popular mobile operating system in the world, Google’s Android, will be in the sights of US competition area of ​​the regulator. The Federal Trade Commission (FCT its acronym in English) is concerned about the alleged “suffocation” that Google causes on competing services in access to Android.

Who moves the information is Bloomberg, citing two people familiar with the process. At issue is the fact that Google give priority to their own services on Android, making access to the software to third parties.

The process may be related to the agreements that Google makes different manufacturers. Although not charge anything for the Android license, there are rules that must be observed to belong to the alliance’s mobile operating system. and one of those rules is the inclusion of origin of various Google apps.

The research will still be at an early stage and if the FTC finds evidence of illegal concorrêcia , can proceed to a formal accusation against Google.

The review process to Google’s practices comes nearly two years after the technology had reached an agreement with FCT but this made related to market research.

The European Commission also has an investigation under way related to alleged anti-competitive practices on the Android operating system. Bloomberg says it’s not certain that the two regulators are to cooperate in their investigations.
