The exchange of text messages (SMS) has become one of the most popular forms of communication, but only few studies on their impact on people’s lives.
For the study, scientists at the University of Queensland in Australia, observed body movements of 26 healthy people as they walked and used the mobile phone.
Each
walked to a comfortable pace straight a distance of about eight and a half feet while doing one of trsaes: walking without using telemvel, walking to read a text in telemvel or writing a text message.
Researchers then evaluated
body movements using a system of three-dimensional analysis.
writing text messages and, to a lesser extent, reading text, altered body movements while walking.
