The Bank points out the difficulty in obtaining food and other dairy products, to distribute to families with newborns and children. The bank estimates that over 20 million people need help in the Algarve.

president of the Food Bank Against Hunger in the Algarve today warned of the difficulty in obtaining dairy foods, and expensive products that are rarely donated to the institution, to distribute to families with newborns and children.

by TSF, Nuno Alves said that they are also missing other type of products like diapers and biberons. “The crisis has been sharpened and people have had great difficulty in getting these products,” he added.

According to the Commission, the situation is worrying in counties like Faro, Olhão, Loulé and Portimão, estimating that there may be 1,000 children in the district, between 0 and 3 years, with this shortage.

To resolve this problem, the Food Bank Against Hunger, in addition to the collections at supermarkets, also has an ongoing campaign called “Separate to Power”, which aims to convert food into boxes for recycling.
