Mercedes-Benz launches AMG GT R with 593 hp and green paint – Globo.com

The Mercedes-Benz sought inspiration in the legendary German circuit of Nurburgring to develop the most powerful version of the sporty AMG GT. The AMG GT R was released on Friday (24), bringing lush green paint in honor of the “green hell”, as the track is known.

The AMG GT R brings a number of improvements compared to other models of the line. The V8 4.0 has been enhanced, and now develops 593 horsepower and 71.4 Nm of torque, compared to 510 bhp and 66.2 lb.-ft. of AMG GT S, so far as “brave” of the family.

Second plant numbers, the AMG GT R accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.6 seconds, with a maximum of 318 km / h. The exchange is automated dual-clutch seven-speed.

Although not the most powerful category, the brand claims that the strong point of the model is the power / weight ratio of 2.66 kg / hp . The AMG GT R is also 15 kg lighter than the GT S.

In addition to the recalibrated engine, Mercedes also promoted aerodynamic changes. The front bumper has dynamic fins, while the rear part brings double diffusers. This set aims to direct wind flow the best, reducing air resistance.

Technological Arsenal

Another new feature is a kind of spoiler is the bottom of the front bumper.

at a speed of 80 km / h, the carbon fiber piece is 40 mm lower, generating over pressure and causing the carriage is more “glued” to the ground.

But the arsenal of technological devices does not end there. The rear axle is dynamic. That is, the wheels also esterçam up to 1.5 degrees.

When the speed is less than 100 km / h, they turn in the opposite direction to the front. Above this speed, they go in the same direction, ensuring greater stability.

The AMG GT R goes on sale in Europe on November 21. The arrival of the model, however, is only scheduled for March next year. In Brazil, the brand claims that there is no provision or sports sales confirmation.
