Bungie details support for Destiny in legacy consoles – IGN Portugal

From August, Destiny will stop receiving major updates and content releases on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Destiny: the Taken King will still be available in legacy consoles, although to implement limited access to certain events. The Trials events of Osiris and Iron Banner no longer be available in the older consoles, and players who want to continue playing them will have to upgrade to a new console, and buy Rise of Iron, as it becomes available.

the same is true for live events like Festival of the Lost, Crimson Days or Sparrow Racing League.

However, players of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will continue to have access the missions and heroic strikes, as well as the daily and weekly challenges crucible. Xur will continue to sell their property in the Tower of the Reef, but some items will no longer be available as individual exotic weapons and armor pieces. Encrypted exotic engrams will now be decrypted in Year 2 exotic, and the encrypted legacy engrams become decrypted in exotic Year 1.

You can see more detailed information on the website of the game.

Destiny: Rise of Iron will not be available for older consoles. Speaking to IGN, game director, Christopher Barret, said this is because the “majority of Destiny players are in the current generation of consoles.” Bungie has reached a point where he would have to remove elements of the game to be able to support the updates for PlayStation 3 and Xbox One. “It’s a logical progression,” he said.
