The Spotify made official what has long since came to speculate. That which is the largest service streaming music subscription, born in Sweden, has updated its platform and will have videos and original, exclusive content, including Podcasts . To have video content, which will not always directly linked to music, Spotify has signed partnerships with the Vice News, BBC, NBC, MTV, Comedy Central or TED, pending, however, unclear what kind of videos will use these partners .

The founder of Spotify, Daniel Ek, confirmed Wednesday in a meeting with journalists held in New York, adding the service, which, according to company figures, helps to find an average of two billion artists per month. Ek said that adding video content was “inevitable”. “We believe that will keep users happy and linked to Spotify all day,” he added. The idea is that with these contents “people also hear more music.”

The passes Spotify to suggest videos and Podcasts and, based on what the user passes to choose from, these suggestions will be tailored to your interests. “Today we are introducing a new Spotify experience that is more affordable, personal, and usable than anything in music, “summarized Ek.

In addition to the videos and Podcasts , the user is replaced in app the page Spotify Now (now), where playlists are shown for each time of day. Basically morning suggestions take into account the ideal soundtrack to start the day, while in the evening the proposals can be more relaxing music. Despite the user can create their own lists, Spotify can generate them based on previous likes demonstrated by the user. The idea is to realize the service that you like and anticipate suggestions based on the information previously collected.

Another new feature is the Spotify Running . With this feature, the service tries to adapt the rhythm of the music to the user running step rhythm. Through its app , Spotify can detect the running passage of time and quickly suggests a song that blends in perfectly with the exercise. According to Sportify are just five seconds accurate to find the perfect song to exercise. The idea is to motivate the user while exercising.

The service also announced the Running Originals , a six original songs created specifically for package run and that will adapt to the pace of User race. Later this year, Spotify will create partnerships with Nike and RunKeeper to integrate in your app .

Spotify Running will be released this Wed fair for iOS users in Portugal. For now, the Portuguese users are outside the experience Now, available starting today for users in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Sweden. Spotify wants to extend the page to more countries, which should happen in the coming weeks.

With over 60 million active users in 58 countries, Spotify offers two modes. One is free, has limitations in the choice of music on mobile devices and the songs are interspersed with ads. The other, free of advertising, works with a monthly subscription of seven euros.

The news presented on Wednesday are Spotify’s response to growing competition it has faced in the market streaming music. The company claims to hold more than 50% of that market but services like Tidal reissued by American rapper Jay Z, and what is expected soon from Apple, are likely to strongly undermine his leadership.
