Brightest galaxy is discovered by NASA – Correio do Estado

NASA, the US space agency, discovered the brightest galaxy in the universe, which emits light equivalent to 300 trillion suns.

The news was disclosed in the publication “Astrophysical Journal” by the team led by Chao-Wei Tsai astronomer.

The galaxy was found by Wise and Space Telescope was named Wise J224607.57-052635.0. It is part of Luminous Infrared Galaxies group Extremely (Elirg), consisting of 209 very bright galaxies.

The light of the star system is generated from a black hole of major proportions that are inside. It attracts gases, dust and the rest of the story to a disc in his back, warming to temperatures of millions of degrees and explodes, releasing energy ultraviolet and x-rays.

This light is blocked by balls that dust, when heated, deploy a noticeable infrared radiation through the telescope. Black holes of this size are easily found, but rarely in galaxies as “primitive”.

The light of Wise J224607.57-052635.0 took about 12.5 billion years to reach Earth, which means that the galaxy was formed when the universe was still relatively new, there are about 13.8 billion years.
