Nurse of the Hospital de Santo António, Porto, was on Thursday sentenced to actual prison for sexually abusing three patients. Court did not suspend the penalty for fear it would “signal indulgence”

Mario Dominguez, the nurse at the Hospital of Saint Anthony who was on trial for alleged sexual abuse of three women interned there, between 2010 and 2011, was yesterday sentenced to three and a half years chain.

Although no criminal and even with less than five years worth antecedents, the collective of judges of the Court John S. Novo, Porto, it was decided by considering effective prison rather than the needs of prevention, public opinion could think another feather could mean “indulgence” towards the accused.
