To explore the entire virtual galaxy of No Man’s Sky would spend more time than the current age of the true universe
the world of video games – a part of the global entertainment industry worth longer than the Hollywood film – can today be divided into two groups: those who play Pokemon Go and true gamers. (In truth, there is a public overlap between these two categories, although necessarily reduced, because the time that the first calls outside the home makes it impossible to practice the second!)
Those who take it very serious virtual worlds have next week probably the highest point this summer, if not 2016:. the release of long-awaited no Man’s Sky, Hello Games for PlayStation 4 and Windows PC
Played in perspective of the first person, the player is a proprietary astronaut in a spaceship (like an X-Wing Star Wars) it has at its disposal a virtual galaxy of more than a trillion planets (how much is a trillion? is a number 1 followed by 18 zeros). Each planet has (supposedly) flora and own fauna, as well as resources that can be exploited and further, at least in some cases, living beings with which they can make trade.
To get an idea the project size, suffice it to say that for a player to explore all the planets that exist in this virtual galaxy would have to spend more time than the age of the universe (the real) name.
No Man’s Sky has thus potential to make that very good people stay closed at home this summer.
this is the software deliver the goods … this week, a user of Reddit digital forum said he bought a copy of the game on eBay for $ 1,250 (1,123 euros) and was disappointed. Has encountered many bugs, the program has been down several times and he could easily reach the center of the galaxy, one of the supposedly complicated goals of the game.
The sanity of someone who spends more than a thousand euros for access to a set one week earlier than the rest of the world is at least questionable. But the case demonstrates well the hype the game is generating. What may well be precisely its destruction: when the expectation is too much, the potential for disappointment makes up huge. Next week we’ll see.
