No Man’s Sky is an impossibility made real. It is unbelievable that such a small studio like Hello Games, which began with four people (today the team has about 15 members) has been able to create a game as megalomaniac as No Man’s Sky. When the first trailer appeared in VGX 2013 event, the general reaction was disbelief. Nearly three years after this time, the game finally came to our hands and ambition of Hello Games got the better of the doubt, having created such a great game that is humanly impossible to visit all the planets (the number of planets is more than 18 quintillion).
the miracle behind No Man’s Sky is a code that generates the universe of the game. The planets, animals, vegetation, climate, solar systems, galaxies, and even the language of the alien races are generated based on a code. What Hello Games did was create various contents that are the basis for the creation and the wonder code takes these contents and blending them to create the universe of No Man’s Sky. So it was that an independent studio like Hello Games was able to create something so huge. It is an ingenious solution, something we can not deny is the potential of this concept.
In recent weeks, as the launch approached, No Man’s Sky generated enthusiasm tremendous, but I believe that many had a wrong idea of what would be the game. The best way to summarize No Man’s Sky is describe it as an exploration game set in space with some survival elements to the mix. From planet to planet and solar system solar system, they will collect resources to extend your journey through the galaxy. There are two distinct objectives: to get to the center of the galaxy (and it must cut short by black holes) or follow the path of Atlas, a giant and mysterious structure that has the form of a lozenge
So. the appeal of No Man’s Sky is exploring depending absolutely only of your desire for discovery. There are other things involved in No Man’s Sky, as hostile spaceships attacks and the sentries that bother you as they explore and collect the resources of the planets, but looking at the overall plan, are only a small part of the experience. Most of the time in No Man’s Sky is spent traveling to new planets and solar systems, and collect resources. Whatever you do in No Man’s Sky spends resources: the ship needs fuel to take off and travel at high speeds, and if they want to jump to another solar system, have to make or find a Warp Cell, which are uncommon and whose manufacturing process requires a combination of several features.
No Man’s Sky also requires constant management of inventory, which is extremely small in the beginning. You can buy a ship bigger to have more space and increase the fact that the transport capacity, but this implies spending units (game money). For units need to sell items and resources, and how early have little space, progress is extremely slow. As the game’s goal is to continue to travel, and this implies afford, No Man’s Sky end up falling into a loop of infinite repetition. Visit a planet, collect the most valuable resources, analyze the species of animals and vegetation to earn extra units, and then go away to another planet to repeat the process.
” the appeal of No Man’s Sky is exploring “
But also we are finding alien races (the Gek, Vy’keen and Korvax). Initially their speech is incomprehensible, but with the help of the stones of knowledge, which are all the planets, we learn new words in foreign language. Depending on your interactions with different races, your relationship will improve, which brings certain advantages. There are also incentives to help NPCs who need help. If you help them, may receive new technologies, items or even multiferramentas with more spaces available.
No Man’s Sky also allows implement several improvements in your ship, fact and multitool (your weapon and tool to undermine resources). By the way, find new technologies is common, the problem is that each technology occupies a space inventory. As the inventory space is scarce. (Mainly in ship and indeed, the multitool not used to transport resources), we ended up not implement almost any of the technologies found
Even though No Man’s Sky eventually become bored the feeling of initial fascination is genuine. There are drives planets and species of super-strange animals, which fed for several hours our curiosity. The very Lore is an incentive to continue to explore. There are temples that we will subtly telling the story of each of the alien races. Basically, this is a game for those who want to know “what’s behind the curtain.” The problem is that eventually this is not enough to encourage us to play. The reality is this: No Man’s Sky needed more variety. Yes, the universe we have to explore is almost endless, but the number of possible actions is extremely limited for a game with such a scale. What good is a gigantic universe if we are always doing the same thing?
“The first few hours are spectacular, but then we realized that no longer news to offer “
the statements of Hello Games before the release suggested that no Man’s Sky would have multiplayer features, but soon launching two players day combined a meeting on the same planet and failed to see If one another, suggesting that the game is not prepared for this experience. However, the possibility of finding other players, as well as the construction of colonies in planets and more emphasis on space combat, would be welcome additions to No Man’s Sky that will undoubtedly help increase the variety and break the repetition. Even limited, No Man’s Sky is not without potential and its very existence is beneficial for video games as a whole.
No Man’s Sky is the kind of game where the honeymoon honeymoon ends early . The first few hours are spectacular, but then realized we did not have more news to offer. Still, it is not absent from merits. It is a unique technical exercise, and despite the constant pop-ups in the textures and objects of the planets, the performance is stable and satisfactory. It is amazing that a small team has done something, but at the same time, the limitations of a team of this size prevented the game to fly higher. Is it worth playing? The No Man’s Sky innovation factor is a major attraction (there has never been a game like that), but it is an experience that begins at a high point and goes down gradually. At this point we no longer want to play again. I’m sure there are many planets full of beautiful landscapes and still not find out, but just the thought of doing the same thing over and over again removes any appeal that might have been left to No Man’s Sky. The only thing that gets missed is the memorable soundtrack created by 65daysofstatic.
