Three major solar flares in less than 24 hours - Público.pt

The U.S. space agency NASA identified three major eruptions on the Sun in less than 24 hours as part of the most powerful solar storm this year.

The explosions occurred on the opposite side of the Sun relative to Earth, and were not directed towards our planet, but they can interfere with the Earth’s magnetic field, affecting communications .

The last eruption occurred at 1:11 a.m. the morning of Tuesday and issued one of the strongest eruptions classified by NASA. Two of these three eruptions have released what we experts call coronal mass ejections, which launches solar material at very high temperatures in space to more than eight million kilometers per hour.

According to information available by NASA , the material launched into space may pass near several U.S. space probes.
