Microsoft Portugal launches campaign about end of support ... - TeK.sapo

The end of support for Windows XP, which will extend the Office 2003 also marks the end of the line for the most popular version of the operating system ever. The product remained active for 10 years, while three other operating system versions were released: Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Worldwide estimates indicate that the penetration of Windows XP to level Global will be around 30% still in business, rising up in Portugal to 40%.

In a statement sent to the press explains that Microsoft will carry out a set of actions with partners to inform and communicate alternatives to companies that are still linked to the old version of the operating system.

The company warns of maintaining the old version of the operating system, support post, could incur costs for businesses and gives example applications subscribed to the product, which progressively longer be supported by independent suppliers.

“The end of support for Windows XP and Office 2003 is thus an opportunity for domestic SMEs modernize their systems, integrating the latest productivity tools, “the company claims.

In the Microsoft partner website provides information on campaigns and initiatives underway to encourage the migration of business customers for the new Windows 8.
