78,000 want to go to Mars ... and not return - Overview

Mars One organization plans to send a group of people to Mars, in 2022, to establish the first human colony on the Red Planet. In two weeks, the project received more than 78,000 entries, which will be open until August 31.

Mars One warns, however, that due to physiological changes imposed by adaptation to life on Mars, there is no way back to Earth.

On its website, the organization notes that despite a cosmonaut could walk again after 13 months aboard the Mir in a weightless environment, an extended stay on Mars would not allow the human body to readapt to Earth’s gravity .

Candidates should not have any specific qualifications, but have “willingness to build and maintain healthy relationships, ability to reflect on yourself and trust others.” The selected volunteer will receive minimal training for eight years before leaving for the long trip to Mars seven months.

Until now, people are enrolled in 120 countries (although the vast majority were Americans) who had to upload a video explaining why they want to spend the rest of his life to the inhospitable Red Planet.
