The Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) has responded to the order of the District Court of Lisbon for the limitation of Uber activity in Portugal, following an injunction filed by ANTRAL, and identified a suspicious vehicle to provide service through the app the company, it was announced on Friday.

At the end of April this year, the District Court of Lisbon decided favorably an injunction that the National Association of Road Carriers for Passenger Cars (ANTRAL) filed against Uber. The court ruled the “closure and prohibition in Portugal of the provision and procurement of passenger transport service on cars, under the Uber denomination, or any other, it is called with identical purposes.”

Following favorable to ANTRAL sentence, the site Uber is blocked and the Bank of Portugal informed the banks of the court’s decision, determining the “notification of all banking operators and payers, by means electronic, registered in Portugal “to” suspend all registration and payment transactions by payment card or other similar means used commonly by Uber. ”

Seven months later, and some of the Uber appeals against the decisions favorable to ANTRAL, the company’s situation in Portugal remains unchanged. The site the company was blocked by telecom operators but the mobile application that connects between the user and the driver of the private car remains operational, as well as payment for the service.

This Friday, the ASAE said in a statement that, following the decision of the District Court of Lisbon, took steps through the Regional South Unit. Following representations made by ASAE in the Lisbon area, the authority He identified a “suspicious vehicle to provide service over the Uber platform.” The ASAE concluded that the driver of the vehicle is “found in exercise activity to a partner company of Uber, having this license permit only for car rental with driver.”

“As a result of findings of fact, the ASAE gave knowledge to the judicial authorities of the Uber still is active, “writes the authority, without any further details.

This is not the first intervention of the ASAE at Uber question. In July, the Food Safety and Economic Authority filed a case of offense against the company. The process aims to establish whether the app that allows you to connect a client to a private shuttle service acts of anti-competitive manner, damaging the service provided by passenger transport vehicles licensed by the Institute for Mobility and Transport ( IMT).
