Earth as seen from Mars

image captured by the Mars Curiosity robot shows first view of Earth from the surface of the Red Planet.

At first glance, does not seem like anything special. The image shows a night view of the Martian paisacem with mountains silhouetted in the foreground and is starring back. But a small, almost imperceptible point of light makes all the difference. Is the planet Earth first photographed from the surface of Mars.

The author of the image is the robot Curiosity, NASA sent the machine two years ago that explores the surface of the Red Planet. This time, the chambers of Curiosity rose soil of Mars to look at the sky and find the planet which he left in 2011. With effort, one can also see the moon to orbit around the Earth.

The Curiosity landed in March in August 2012 and since then has dazzled scientists (and many millions of laymen) with their images and revelations about the atmosphere of Mars.
