Died Hiroshi Yamauchi, the man who made Nintendo one leader - Público.pt

Hiroshi Yamauchi, a parent of Japanese video games and former president of Nintendo group, died at age 85, it was announced on Wednesday by a spokesman for the company. During his leadership, Yamauchi Nintendo managed to put in a place of leadership in the market for electronic entertainment.

Yamauchi, born in Kyoto in 1927, Nintendo led the group for over 50 years, having received the tough task when he was only 22.

When it came to the direction, the company was known for collectible card. Between 1949 and 2002, the Japanese managed to get the brand was developing products and assuming a leadership position, which allowed the Nintendo 80′s became a pioneer in video games.

With Yamauchi towards the Nintendo released in 1983, the first game console to the family, the Family Computer better known in Japan as the Famicom, or NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) in the rest of the world. Followed up the Game Boy and other consoles, accompanied by some of the game’s most iconic brand as Mario , Pokemon or Zelda .

In 2002, Yamauchi has assumed a role of special adviser to the Nintendo, at a time when the brand already felt the strong competition from games online , with 3D graphics, and the proposals of companies willing to bring down the brand’s first, such as Sony with its PlayStation. More recently, Nintendo would have difficulties in responding to competition from games for smartphones .
