The management of services Yahoo in China, is in charge of Alibaba, but it was not always so. The only physical structure of the US company in the country is located in Beijing and initially was from this office that operations were commanded. However, with the restriction of the activities of Yahoo, the building eventually became a center of research.

The research center will now close doors, applying the latest information by the South China Morning Post. In a statement reported by the same, a representative of Yahoo ensures that the company is “continually make changes to align resources and to promote collaboration and innovation among the best business.”

The same representative announced that the Beijing officials were warned that the center will be closed and that, consequently, will have to be carried out layoffs. About 350 professionals work in this office and, although there is no information on the number of layoffs, analysts project that the suspension of employment contracts will affect almost all of the workers.

Those who are not redundant should be transferred to other centers of Yahoo, as the headquarters in California in an attempt to consolidate the company, making it less fragmented and dispersed so that unnecessary costs can be cut.

This research center and Yahoo’s development was opened in 2009 and, since then, has been research stage in areas such as cloud computing, analytics and advertising.
