Wood: Captaincy of Funchal issues warning of bad weather – Digital Journal



The captaincy of the Port of Funchal today issued bad weather and strong wind warnings for the seas of Madeira, recommending that vessels remain in harbors.

“It is reported to have been received from the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), at 16:45, the warning signal 6 (bad weather) for the Madeira archipelago,” says the statement issued region.

The warning signal 6 on the Beaufort scale, from 1 to 9 and is related to the wind quadrant means bad weather and wind between 51 and 62 miles per hour in any direction.

The outlook is still for waves of 3.5 meters on the north coast and moderate visibility.
