The idea of creating a park bench that carries eight phones simultaneously based on solar energy, and opened in Penafiel, took a year to perfect.
According to Michael Costa, superior of the local business framework that developed the project, “the whole concept” was worked by different engineering departments to reach the final model, presented today at the Lages Park in Penafiel.
A prototype was presented at the 2014 edition of AGRIVAL, but since then there have been several technical improvements, he said.
The bank is built in a plastic called acrylic stone, also developed and built by the company.
piece has the shape of a heart, replicating, even in the red and yellow, of the identity of the municipality symbols.
Inside the urban furniture set are located, hidden, batteries that store solar energy captured from multiple photovoltaic panels.
In the bank’s faces are eight points of charging via USB or traditional electric plug.
The equipment also has lights “led”, low consumption, which guarantees the lighting at night.
According to the technician, a single day’s sun allows to accumulate energy intensive eight days, which corresponds to a power of 2,300 watts per hour.
Another advantage of the set is to work with an antenna that distributes Internet through the wireless system.
Michael Costa said the concept of combining the solar energy, a piece of street furniture capable of providing wireless Internet and charge electronic devices is completely new, since elapsing patent allotment.
The coach said the concept can be combined with another type of use, unlike adopted by Penafiel, including the possibility of setting screens for useful information disclosure or advertising.
Asked by Lusa about whether the concept will be extended to other Portuguese cities, advanced that there are already contacts for this purpose.
