Bill Gates promotes condoms of the future
financial Prize awarded to eleven projects that promote improvements in contraceptive.
The foundation of Bill and Melinda Gates conducted a competition to reward projects “condoms the next generation.” The objective was to promote innovative ideas to improve this contraception in order to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases more effectively.
According to the leaders of the initiative, the contest did not intend to find a single “condoms of the future”, but to create bases for extending the range of options available in the near future.
In the end, after having examined over 800 projects submitted to the competition, the foundation chose eleven ideas. The winners received a financial award of $ 100,000 (about 74,000 euros), but the value can reach close to one million dollars (about 740,000 euros), if projects are developed and marketed.
Awardees presented new forms and materials to facilitate placement and make the most comfortable condom. Were also presented ideas for improving the sensations provided the couple and lubrication.
