Anacom will soon release a tool called NetMed that allow consumers to measure the speed of Internet access and compare it with the speed of service they hired.
“Very soon we will place at the disposal of consumers a tool to evaluate the speed of the Internet,” said the president of the Communications Regulatory Authority (ANACOM) at the end of the annual congress of APDC, who finished fifth Monday.
With this instrument, to be called NetMed, the consumer can evaluate the actual speed Internet access through fixed networks and verify that it is “very different from the maximum amount you hired,” said the president of ANACOM.
Fátima Barros said that the regulator wants to strengthen quality control and transparency in the provision of Internet, providing consumers with a “standalone tool” speed evaluation that will help you choose among the various alternatives on the market.
regulator was even “concerned about the numerous complaints” received by the supervisory authority regarding prices of bundled services, retention periods and unlimited consumption, where consumer information is often insufficient and inadequate.
Referring to the “aggressive and even abusive” sales force telecommunications companies, “affecting the reputation of the sector”, he assured that Anacom will take steps to “prevent abuse” and enhance the transparency of contracts.
