The first picture captured within the orbit of Jupiter – Express

The first image captured within the orbit of Jupiter was released by NASA after the unmanned spacecraft of the US space agency, Juno, have entered the last week in the orbit of the gaseous planet, the largest of the Solar System.

in addition to Jupiter, partially illuminated by the sun, the image also shows Io, Europa and Ganymede, three of its large moons, and its four largest satellite Callisto left out.

the record indicates that the equipment could withstand the strong radiation of Jupiter. The image was captured on July 10, when Juno stood at 4.3 million away from the planet. Within the orbit of 53 days of the planet, the distance between the same is currently increasing, but again approach during the month of August, when it is expected to be captured better images.

Right now, NASA is testing purposes to the different nature of the devices, to be followed by a calibration period before further observation of Jupiter, which will start in October.

Since you left the earth in August 2011, Juno made the trip 1800 million kilometers to the planet’s orbit. NASA’s shuttle’s mission will be completed 18 months from now, when it will eventually collide with Jupiter.
