Portuguese wins international photography prize for iPhone – Exame Informática

The iPhone Photography Awards is an international photography competition for images taken with a mobile phone from Apple. The event is now in its 9th edition and this year received 139 applications different countries, resulting in thousands of competitors. Despite the countless competition, first prize in the Landscape category was for a Portuguese.

Vasco Galhardo Simões, a Lisbon 21, won with a photo taken from an airplane, which captures part of the Bridge 25 April and Christ the King, a cloud covered scenery. Moreover, the Portuguese, who attends the last year of International Relations and Political Science in London University Kingston, became the youngest winner of a category.

“This picture was taken 5 January 2015, on a flight back to Lisbon. It was a unique view of the bridge April 25 that took quickly. I had a good sense of timing and some luck, for about 30 seconds after taking the picture, the pilot changed the route and we stopped to see the bridge.
