Samsung, the world’s largest maker of smartphones, should start with an initial production of about five million of its new model handsets, the Galaxy S7.
This news, advanced by the Electronic Times, citing unnamed sources, also reveals that the company South Korea may launch two versions of this top-notch. One with a screen 5.2-inch LCD, which will start with an output of 3.3 million units. And another, the so-called Galaxy S7 Edge, will have a curved screen of 5.5 inches, and an initial production of 1.6 million sets.
According to the South Korean publication, the launch of the new model will take place in February.
According to the latest data, released in November, in the third quarter of this year, Samsung increased smartphone sales, but lost market share in the face of Apple, its main competitor.
The giant Seoul sold 83.6 million smartphones between July and last September, up from 72.9 million sold in the same period of 2014. But its position in the market fell from 23.9% to 23.7 % in this period.
