Meteorite explosion on the moon was visible from Earth (with video) - The Ball

A NASA Telescope captured the impact of a meteorite on the moon, the strongest explosion registered on the lunar surface. The celestial body had about 40 pounds and has created an intense beam of light, visible from Earth with the naked eye.

The meteorite was moving at about 90,000 miles per hour and had about 30 inches in diameter. Crashed into the Moon on Thursday. According to researchers from NASA, the explosion was equivalent to the detonation of five tons of dynamite.

“exploded in a flash almost 10 times brighter than anything we have seen before,” he said in the video posted by NASA on Saturday, Bill Cooke, cabinet studies of meteorites NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.
