But then how do you say GIF? - Telemoveis.com

We may have been wrong all these years. GIF is a popular image format, according to its inventor, is pronounced ‘JIF’ and not ‘Guif’, although the two ways of pronunciation are accepted.

But then how do you say GIF?

Better late than never. The answer to the big question – how do you pronounce GIF? – seems to have arrived in 2013, having not produced significant results. According to its inventor, the term GIF was initially introduced in 1987 and never met properly a consensus on the correct pronunciation for their terminology.

Statements have been made to the New York Times, where Steve Wilhite will explain how the word is pronounced – which contrasts with the very definition of Oxford Dictionary, which states that both forms are correct. Regardless of all, the fact is that there is no longer any control to exercise over the pronunciation of this word.

The White House itself, in its official Tumblr, has already decided that the word should be pronounced as ‘Guif’. But who is really going to worry about it?
