A fire in a house in Abrantes in the district of Santarém, on Wednesday morning, left six homeless elderly, informed the municipal civil protection.
Speaking to Lusa, the municipal operational commander of civil protection, António Manuel, s aid the fire “started in the house bathroom, which is also a home,” the Avenue of the Armed Forces, in Abrantes, in the central region of country, about 150 kilometers from Lisbon, and forced the temporary relocation of six elderly in other institutions in the city.
“The fire, believed to have derived from a short circuit in the room bathroom , made six displaced but no injuries to register, “he said. The fire alarm was given at about 10:45 am and was considered extinct about an hour later.
At the site were eight firefighters Abrantes corporation, with an ambulance, autotanque and a fire-fighting vehicle .
