The Spanish Agency for Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS in Spanish acronym) considered the unlawful processing of personal data carried out by Google, under the new privacy policy of American technology. Therefore, the company will now have to pay a fine of 900,000 euros.

According to the Spanish newspaper “Expansion”, the investigation of this body considers that Google does not give its users enough information about the data it collects and the purposes for which such data are used. The investigation of the EDPS notes that the data are stored for an indefinite period of time. In this sense, the agency believes that there have been three breaches of the Law on Intellectual Property and Data Protections and imposes a fine of EUR 300 000 for each offense.
