Fire in the slum of Faro leaves nine homeless - The Associated Press

The fire which broke out on Monday night at the slum of Horta da Areia, in Faro, Algarve, caused nine evacuees who spent the night with relatives, according to the mayor, Roger Cod.

The displaced belong to three families who lived in the three prefabricated houses, wooden and zinc affected by fire. Rogério Cod PUBLIC told that the camera works department will proceed on Tuesday morning, cleaning the houses, which considers “unrecoverable”.

The mayor recalled that one of his campaign promises was to try to stop this neighborhood “tents” yet this term, recognizing that the situation will be dealt with.

Rogério Cod ensured that on Tuesday there will be a meeting with Social Security to arrange alternative housing for these families who have low incomes. The cause of the fire this morning were still uncleared.
