Lisbon 08 Ago (AP) – The number of transplants performed in the first half of the year rose 17 percent over the same period of 2013, due to increased donor and cadaver organs procured, it was announced today <. / p>

According to the Portuguese Institute of Blood and Transplant (IPST) in the first six months of the year there have been 395 transplants, 57 more than in the same period of 2013, when 338 were made.

The data in transplantation activity also indicate that in the first half, the number of donors increased by 20 percent, rising from 131 in 2013 to 157.
