The promises Jaguar, Jaguar meet … even if it’s 50 years later! The six units to be produced lacked the Jaguar Lightweight E-Type are ready.
The story is no longer new to our readers. But we can go back to repeat it – good stories deserve to be repeated. For this we must go back to 1963 at which point Jaguar promised the world produce 18 units a very special version of the historic E-Type. Lightweight nicknamed, was a more radical version of the standard E-Type.
The Jaguar Lightweight E-Type had least 144 kg – this weight reduction was achieved thanks to the use aluminum for the monocoque body panels and engine block – and debitava 300cv power, extracted from a 3.8L six-cylinder engine in the same line that had been installed in the D-Type that won Le Mans at the time

It turns out that instead of the promised 18 units, Jaguar produced only 12 units. 50 years later, Jaguar decided to ‘pay’ the world the 18 such units, faithfully reproducing six more units, using exactly the same materials, technologies and techniques of the time. To mark the resubmission (?) of the new model with 50 years, Jaguar will be present at the Concours D’Elegance Peeble Beach, which will be held this week in California.
