Google pays AdBlock Plus not to block their ads. - Net & Tech

ads and advertising are a reality on the Internet. Some are quite intrusive, others almost not even notice they are there. Fortunately Google a major benefit in this business model has achieved the medium term. But at what cost? Does the giant arm is broad to the point of doing anything to protect your business? Seems so, Google will reportedly paid to AdBlock Plus not to block their ads.

Adblock Plus is one of the most downloaded extensions for Chrome and Firefox. Its objective is based on block intrusive advertising and some nasty sites. However its use has been quite unpopular with those who obviously depends on advertising.

fact it is estimated that millions of consumers now can not imagine your Internet browsing without this plugin. Obviously the damage to advertising companies may be located in the millions of dollars per year. However, it seems that Google Ads are not being blocked. Google seems to be paid to the creator of Adblock Plus for their ads to be included in the white list (whitelist) which are allegedly (according to the author of the plugin) ad providers that offer non-intrusive advertising.

AdblockPlus says that these payments help the company maintain its filter list, which also includes some small Whitelists in your websites and blogs for free, and encourage large companies like Google to participate. But it is easy to see Google and others try to subvert the purpose of AdBlock Plus and can partly mitigate the effectiveness of the plugin. On the other hand, this scenario can be seen as a great business model that empowers creators Plugin deciding which ads or should not reach the end user. In practice AdBlock Plus becomes a sort of guardian (gatekeeper) of the ads.

This raises two problems. Are all ad providers have the ability to pay the principal ad blockers (AdBlock Plus although the best known is not the only one)? What prevents blockers begin to stop filtering intrusive ads? After all, just that any company comes to authors and offer to pay for the restrictions on your ads to be raised.

In the end, AdBlock Plus unlike what was said is not a project for a person, in fact this principle could not be further from the truth. By installing this plugin is contributing unknowingly to what a certain part is a very profitable business model.
