Discovering new moon in Neptune with 19 km in diameter - Tech & Net

After analyzing images taken by the Hubble telescope and study the rings of Neptune (Neptune), American astronomer Mark Showalter discovered a new moon, called S/2004 N1, this planet icy and distant.

“Neptune’s moons orbiting the planet very quickly. It was necessary to find a way to follow the movement to examine the details of this system “, said the astronomer.

AS/2004 N1, previously passed unnoticed due to their small size and great speed with which revolves around the planet. It is also estimated that the S/2004 N1 (located between the moons Larissa and Proteus) is located 150,000 km Neptune and take only 23 hours to completely encircle the planet. Also according to Showalter, the S/2004 N1 is only 19 miles across, making it the smallest moon discovered in Neptune until now.
